Chartered June 29th, 1979, we respect tradition and cultivate the future by encouraging unity and fellowship within our organization and the growth of new Masons into our fraternal order. We proudly carry on a rich history of Masonic and community leadership.
The brethren of John T. Maxey Lodge No. 74, with the support of their families and friends, conduct business and do the work of our Fraternity. We engage in fellowship, learning, teaching, and the emulation, practice, and continuation of Masonic principles. We recognize our families and friends for their importance to and participation in our lives. We value the legacies left by our brothers passed and their families.
John T. Maxey Lodge No. 74’s vision statement embodies the following concepts in no particular order:
Engage in learning and teaching
Encourage the growth of Masons
Value our history and legacy
Engage in fellowship
Provide charity in our communities
Build unity with our Sister OES Organizations
We are recognized by IRS as a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization.
Our purpose is service, which is rendered to our members and their families, to include widows of our departed Brothers, the people of San Antonio, the great state of Texas, and the United States of America. Our measure is charity.
The proceeds from our events benefit our John T. Maxey Scholarship Programs; Feed-the-Needy Foundation; 3 5 7 Food Pantry; support to Widows of Masons; the Battered Women Shelter; Domestic Awareness Programs through W.E. S.P.E.A.K on PURPOSE; school supply drives for local schools; Toys-for-Tots; nursing home visits and similar programs throughout San Antonio and the great state of Texas. Additionally, we send care packages to military service members who are deployed in the service of our country, via our Deployed Service Members Program. Ninety percent of our membership is comprised of active duty or retired service members. The fraternity strives to build and enhance the character of our members who are bound together by a commitment to our fellow members and their families; our neighbors, and our community.
